Why We Don’t Say “Staff”

Why We Don’t Say “Staff”
— and never have.

Some things don’t need to be taught.
They just feel off — and calling the incredible humans I work with “staff” has always been one of those things.

It’s not a word I ever learned to avoid in business school or read about in a leadership book. It simply never sat right. Too clinical. Too transactional. Too… impersonal.

Because the people who help shape Lemonade Collective into what it is — day in and day out — are so much more than a line on an org chart or a shift on a schedule. They’re collaborators. Creators. Problem-solvers. Cheerleaders. Teammates.

They’re my team.

And that word — team — means something. It carries the energy of trust, connection, and shared purpose. It reflects the truth that we’re building something together, not just clocking in and out beside one another.

Just like we don’t call our clients “customers.”

You’re not a number or a transaction to us.
You’re part of this place — part of the collective.

That word isn’t just in our name for branding. It’s a value. A belief. A reminder that what we’re doing here isn’t just about fitness. It’s about creating a space where people feel like they belong.

We show up for each other.
We grow together.
And we know that words matter — because they shape how people feel.

So no, you’ll never hear us say “staff.”
Not because someone told us not to.
But because we already knew better.

And we’re so glad you’re part of this collective. 💛
