I Stand

June 2020

Dear LC Community,

The past few weeks have been an eye opener for us. We know, we are not alone when we say that our society has failed the Black, Indigenous, and Person of Colour (POC) community, and many of us have played a role in that failure, knowingly or unknowingly. During this time we have been listening, learning, and taking a hard look at ourselves and our business both internally and externally. In our efforts to continue learning, as we know we have a long way to go, we also know we are in a position to take action and lead by example.

Lemonade Collective unanimously condemns discrimination, racism, and racial injustice, and has a zero tolerance policy at our facility.

We have taken the Anti-Racism Small Business Pledge by Hello Seven and pride ourselves on providing our community “a judgement free inclusive” facility. In which, we are dedicated to ensuring the “inclusive” facility commitment is met.

Below are our commitments to you:

  • We commit to being an ally to the Black, Indigenous, and POC community; to listening, learning and engaging in impactful ways.

  • We commit to be more vocal and active in the efforts to confront injustice. In line with that commitment, we will continue to share information and resources so that our community can also listen and learn.

  • We commit to providing an inclusive environment for our community, by ensuring all guests feel valued and celebrated. To do this we will continue to be open and vulnerable, and to actively listen, learn and engage with our community.

  • We commit to allocating more of our budget spends to Black/Indigenous/POC owned businesses, where possible.

  • We commit to continuing to build diversity and inclusion at our facility.

We will continue to stand with protesters in our community and demand justice, and we encourage our staff and community to join us.

We understand, that we will never understand, but we will continue to stand, learn, be aware and bring awareness to our community, and most importantly take action.

We welcome any feedback as we continue the imperfect journey to being better.

This is just the start, to a long road ahead. We hope that you all hop on the train with us, to a brighter more equal and inclusive future!

Sincerely,

Melissa & G
