I Hurt Myself Doing This in the Gym...
I hurt myself yesterday doing an overhead press.
That’s the movement where you lift weights straight above your head (see image below).
And honestly, it wasn’t the exercise itself that was the problem. It was how I did it.
I went straight up without really thinking about my form or what was in my line of vision… and that’s a BIG NO NO.
When you’re lifting overhead, you should always keep the weight within your peripheral vision so you can control it properly and protect your shoulders and neck.
It sounds simple, but in the moment, it’s something a lot of us forget. And boy do I NEVER want to forget that again.
This was a good reminder that slow, intentional movement will always beat rushing through reps or trying to “just get it done.”
The goal in training isn’t just to move weight, it’s to move well.
To stay connected to your body.
To stay in control of the movement from start to finish.
If you take anything from this, let it be this:
Slow it down. Be intentional. Keep it in your line of sight. Your body will thank you later.
Stay sweet 💛
