How to Take Care of Your Swimsuit

Your swimsuit works hard — from lane swims to aquafit to Baby & Me splashes — so giving it a little love helps it last longer, keep its shape, and stay vibrant.

Here are our top tips to keep your suit in sweet shape all season long:

1. Rinse Immediately After Every Swim

Chlorine, salt, and sunscreen can break down swimsuit fabric over time. Rinse your suit with cool, fresh water as soon as possible after each swim — even if you don’t have time to wash it right away.

2. Hand Wash With Gentle Soap

Skip the washing machine. Instead, use a mild detergent (or even baby shampoo!) and gently hand wash your suit in cool or lukewarm water. Avoid harsh soaps or bleach — they’ll damage the elasticity and fade the fabric.

3. Dry Flat — Never Wring or Hang

Wringing out your suit can stretch and damage the fibers. Instead, gently press it in a towel to remove excess water, then lay it flat to dry in the shade. Avoid hanging by the straps, as it can cause them to stretch out.

4. Avoid Heat

Heat is a swimsuit’s worst enemy. That means no dryers, no hot tubs, and no drying in direct sunlight. High heat can cause fading, thinning, and loss of shape.

5. Rotate Your Swimsuits

If you swim regularly, consider having two or more suits in rotation. This gives each one time to fully dry and recover between uses, which extends its life and keeps it fitting like new.

6. Watch Where You Sit

Pool decks and rough surfaces can snag delicate swimsuit fabrics. Sit on a towel or your cover-up whenever you’re not in the water to protect your suit from unnecessary wear.

7. Store It Right

Don’t leave your damp suit balled up in a bag or locker. Once dry, store it flat in a cool, dry place — not scrunched up or near heat.

Your suit is part of your swim journey — take care of it, and it’ll take care of you.
